Online Court Files
In proceedings where the Court receives a significant number of media requests to access documents on the Court file, the Court may make available on this website publicly accessible material filed in those proceedings (the Online File). The material made available in an Online File will include the documents able to be inspected by non-parties under rule 2903(1) or 4053(1) of the Court Procedures Rules 2006 and, where appropriate, transcripts of Court hearings. The proceedings for which the Court will establish an Online File will be selected by the Court, not at the request of the media or other non-parties.
If the Court establishes an Online File for a matter, and the media or another non-party wishes to access material that is not made available in the Online File, they will need to file an Application in Proceedings seeking the Court’s leave to access that material as required under rule 2903(2) or 4053(2) of the Court Procedures Rules 2006 (ACT). The Application will need to be served on all the parties to the proceeding (whose details will be able to be ascertained from the documents made available in the Online File) to ensure the parties to the proceeding have an opportunity to be heard on the question of whether leave should be granted.
Material will be added to the Online File of a particular proceeding as it becomes available.
All other media enquiries should continue to be directed to sc.media@courts.act.gov.au.
