Work experience at the ACT Courts and Tribunal
Interested in a career in law, the justice system, or a related field? Our work experience program offers students a behind-the-scenes insight into the ACT Courts and Tribunal (ACTCT) and the people who support its work.
The ACTCT offers a limited number of unpaid work experience placements twice a year, at the end of Terms 2 and 4. Placements run for five consecutive business days and give students the opportunity to rotate through different areas under the guidance of ACTCT staff.
The program is ideal for students considering law or related studies. Participants gain practical insight into ACTCT operations, observe how matters progress through the courts and tribunal, assist with hearing and case preparation, and may attend public hearings.
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, placements are restricted to Year 11 and 12 students only, with no exceptions. ACTCT will work with students and schools to minimise exposure to potentially distressing content where possible.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Term 4 placement date: Monday, 30 November to Friday, 4 December 2026

Public school placements are arranged through the ACT Education Directorate. Students should speak with their careers adviser or work experience coordinator.
