In response to the Covid- 19 Situation, registry will no longer be taking lodgement fees over the counter.

A schedule of fees payable can be found on the Magistrates Court fees page.

To pay lodgement fees please download the Civil Jurisdiction payment information for lodgement fees form and credit card authorisation form. Please fill out and scan to MClistings@courts.act.gov.au or SCListing@courts.act.gov.au.

Payment can then be made via credit card or direct debit.

In response to current situation with COVID-19, the court registry is no longer able to accept the payment of fines in person or via cash payments.

To make a full payment of the fine

Please download a Credit Card Authorisation Form fill in and return a scanned or emailed copy to MCListings@courts.act.gov.au (Magistrates Court fines) or SCListing@courts.act.gov.au (Supreme Court fines).

You will receive an acknowledgement of your form and a receipt for payment within 3 business days.

To make a partial payment or pay in instalments via Direct Debit Request

Please download a Direct debit request form. Fill in the first 5 pages of the document, if you have any questions on how to fill in the form, email mccriminal@courts.act.gov.au or phone 6205 5250.  The deduction must start on a Thursday and must not be less than $5 per week.

If the bank account you are making the deductions from is not yours but someone else who agrees to let you take deductions from their bank account, you must get a photo identification of that person giving permission and a signed letter of authority from that person allowing you to do so.

The Sheriff’s Office has resumed all enforcement action.

The Russell Fox Library is open to the public from 14 September 2020.

Due to COVID-19, there are a few measures in place:

• Number of persons within the Library is limited to 4 (four)
• Time spent at the Library is limited to 1 (one) hour
• All clients must use hand sanitizer before and after using Library computers / materials
• Contact the Library in advance to arrange your visit
• Online services preferable where possible

The ACT Courts and Tribunal will collect, use and disclose the minimum amount of personal information reasonably necessary to prevent or manage the risk of COVID-19 infections in the ACT Law Courts Building and ACAT.  This may include collecting the name and contact details of visitors entering the ACT Law Courts Building or ACAT.  Personal details that are collected will be securely stored by the ACTCT and will only be shared with ACT Health if any visitor becomes ill with a suspected infectious disease.

Application of the Information Privacy ACT 2014 to the ACT Courts and Tribunal

The Information Privacy Act 2014 (the Act) does not apply to personal information that relates to proceedings before a court or tribunal. The Act only applies in relation to an act done, or a practice engaged in, relating to a matter that is ‘administrative in nature’. The collection of information in relation to COVID 19 is deemed ‘administrative in nature’ and subject to the Act.

The JACS Directorate Privacy Policy contains information on how you can access or seek to correct any of your personal information that is held by the ACT Courts and Tribunal related to matters that are ‘administrative in nature’, as well as the process for lodging a complaint about an alleged breach of the Information Privacy Act 2014.
