Important note
The Tenancy
Tribunal Act 1994 was repealed on 1 July 2002 by the Leases (Commercial
and Retail) Act 2001 s 172. This Act transfered all disputes between commercial and retail landlords and tenants to the Magistrates Court for resolution.

Function of the Tribunal
The Tenancy Tribunal
was established by the Tenancy
Tribunal Act 1994 (repealed) to hear disputes in relation to:
- retail premises,
or premises located in a shopping centre, other than premises with
a lettable area greater than 1000 m2 that are leased to a corporation
that is not eligible to be incorporated as a proprietary limited company
under the Corporations Law;
- small commercial
premises that are not located in a shopping centre;
- premises, or a
class of premises, prescribed by the Code.
